Liza Richardson

Music Supervisor / DJ

 

Liza Richardson's career spans radio, music supervision for film and TV, and music catalog stewardship.

 

Her broadcast career began in Dallas at KNON and KERA before she joined NPR affiliate KCRW in Santa Monica, where she spent 30 years championing international music, jazz, dance music, and eclectic sounds from around the globe. Her curated mixtapes are available on Spotify.

 

With her team at Mad Doll Music, Liza has music supervised series including Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, The Leftovers, Watchmen, Lovecraft Country, Narcos, Station Eleven, Barry, Outer Banks, Hawaii Five-0, The Rookie, and Griselda. Her film credits include Lords of Dogtown, The Kids Are All Right, and Y tu mamá también, along with the original iPod silhouette ads.

 

Liza earned a Grammy nomination for the Y tu mamá también soundtrack, Emmy nominations for Watchmen and Lovecraft Country, and five Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.

 

She also oversees Ansonia Records, the legendary independent catalog of Latin and Caribbean music from the 1950s through the '80s. Under her leadership, Ansonia has been reissuing classics and releasing new music, including the latest from Mexican Institute of Sound and Bogotá's Meridian Brothers.
